Fundamental accounting procedures, journals, ledgers, financial statements and uses made of accounting information. Basic principles and procedures in accounting for corporate assets. First semester and summer, three hours.

An introduction to the management functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, and their application to the changing world of business. Particular emphasis is placed on process-centered operations and continuous quality management, toward a goal of total business effectiveness. Three hours.

Practical use of spreadsheets to analyze business problems critically and anticipate future business needs. Emphasizes the use of advanced formulas, visualization tools, spreadsheet automation, and sensitivity/scenario analysis to improve communication of historical results and forecasts of expected future outcomes. Utilizes a case-based approach from a variety of business disciplines. Three hours.

A study of principles/practices for accurately reading, interpreting, and applying the Bible. The focus will be on understanding and embracing God's authorial intent of the ancient text and making appropriate applications for contemporary living. Three hours.

Principles of business administration for schools, emphasizing sound plant, finance and management practices. A philosophy of school administration will be developed. First semester, three hours.

An overview of the employment process, personnel policies and procedures, and laws and regulations affecting the employment and supervision of faculty/staff in private, non-profit schools. First semester, three hours.

This EXP course is aligned with ISTE, inTASC, and NACE standards to prepare students to effectively employ a Biblical worldview while integrating technology into a variety of instructional settings. It develops future educators' leadership, scholarship, and citizenship through the skills of collaboration, design, facilitation, and analysis. Additionally, it prepares students to make connections to their faith, prior coursework, and the field of education. A technology portfolio is created by each learner to demonstrate their learning, and a portion of the class is spent in the pursuit of a third-party educational micro-credential. Learners are exposed to a wide variety of instructional tools and ideas for technology integration. Both semesters and summer, three hours.

This course offers an overview of educational psychology, delving into the understanding of human development, learning theory, and educational practice within the context of a biblical worldview. Students explore the complexities of human cognition, development, motivation, diversity, behavior, and instruction as well as their implications for educational practice. Summer only, three hours.

This course is designed to meet the needs of Christian teachers who desire to improve their skills in biblical worldview formation. It distinguishes a secular approach to education from a Christian approach, presents a method for planning and writing instruction from a Christian perspective, and provides a tool for evaluating Christian educational materials. Both semesters and summer, three hours.

This course is an overview of theories related to teaching and learning. Major concepts of learning theories will be studied as well as motivational, developmental and classroom management theories. Students will be required to research analyze, and apply these theories. First semester and summer; Second semester, odd-numbered years, three hours.

This course will examine the changing structure and demographics of the family and implications for education. Current models and strategies for effective home, school and community partnerships will be reviewed with special emphasis on practical applications of these strategies in candidates' own school settings. Course topics include theories of family systems, parenting, parent education, child abuse/neglect and bullying. First semester, three hours.

This course is an overview of the history and theories of curriculum development and their application to K-12 schools. Designing and implementing effective curriculum and learning based on a school's philosophy of education. Second semester, three hours.

The appraisal of a student's intellectual capacity and aspects of personality; the interpretation of educational data using descriptive statistics including frequency distributions, measures of central tendency and dispersion, the normal probability curve and graphs. Attention is also given to test construction and the development of a testing program. Second semester, three hours.

A study of effective techniques for management and discipline in the classroom setting. Emphasis placed on current research and literature. Students develop and communicate a personal philosophy regarding classroom management that references physical surroundings, student motivation approaches, rules and procedures, and strategies for dealing with challenging behaviors and diverse needs. Both semesters and summer, three hours.

Legal issues connected to the administration of sport organizations and sport facilities. Topics includes constitutional law, contract law, risk management and tort law. Three hours.

Designed to provide advanced instruction and training in technical and tactical skills for volleyball. Three hours.

Principles and techniques of financial analysis, planning and control, working capital management, capital budgeting, long-term financing and cost of capital. Summer only, three hours.

An introduction to the structure and functioning of financial institutions and markets, including the commercial banking system and the Federal Reserve. Topics include banking theory, financial instruments, roles of financial intermediaries, and the impact of regulation, competition, and securitization on the stability of financial systems. Three hours.

Europe and the United States from 1914 to the present with emphasis on political, economic and cultural aspects. Three hours.

Because of the complexity of health care, professionals increasingly function as teams. Health Professions Collaboration will introduce and evaluate principles of teamwork, collaboration, coordination, quality and safety of care, and systems thinking in health-related fields. This class will focus on developing and implementing one major group project, requiring students from different programs to work together in order to achieve a common goal. Three hours.

Discusses management competencies and communication skills needed in the field of public health. Equips students with knowledge, skills, and aptitude to conduct negotiation and mediation with communities, organizations and specific sectors affecting health. Presents effective communication strategies to facilitate understanding along and across different cultures. Three hours.

A survey of child development theories and the music acquisition process, birth to age nine. The influence of environment, play and movement on music acquisition will be studied through the examination of recent research, developmentally appropriate curricula, field observations and laboratory experiences. First semester, even-numbered years, three hours.

This course focuses on approaches to understanding and resolving conflict in interpersonal and organizational contexts. Students learn negotiation skills, mediation techniques, and strategies for giving and receiving feedback from a biblical perspective. Three hours.

An introduction to the major areas of psychology, including history, major theories, brain function, biological underpinnings of thought, motivation, emotion, and behavior, learning, memory, lifespan development, intelligence, sensation and perception. An overview of psychological disorders and methods of treatment is included, and critical analysis of information and its alignment with Biblical truth is emphasized. Three hours.

Methods of marriage and family counseling within the church setting. Premarital counseling. Three hours.

Basic background, content and synopsis of the New Testament. Identification of major critical attacks. Introduction to key methods of Bible study. For students with little or no undergraduate background in Bible. Two hours.

An expositional study of Job, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. Difficult interpretive passages from each of these books and discussed. Preparation of expository sermon outlines from selected passages required. Both semesters, three hours.

The application of the principles of systematic theology to the doctrines of Christ, salvation, the Church and the end times; taught from a Baptistic and moderately dispensational perspective. Students prepare a doctrinal statement for each major systematic heading. Three hours.

Study of the biblical teaching concerning man, sin, salvation, the church and eschatology. Emphasis throughout is on the practical application of the teachings of the Bible to the Christian life. Particular attention is given to timely doctrinal questions. Three hours.

An in-depth study of what the church is, why it exists and how it should function. Special attention is given to the church's relationship to Israel, church government, the Lord's Supper, baptism, corporate worship and church discipline. Three hours.

An overview of the story of Scripture, a survey of selected major doctrines and a primer in basic apologetics. Particular emphasis on understanding how to communicate the truth of the Bible to both believers and unbelievers. Three hours.
